President Kalinga Indatissa along with the Secretary Manoj Fernando and the Coordinator Rajith Rathnayake visited the Japan – Sri Lanka Friendship Baseball Ground this week. The purpose of the visit was to finalize pending matters before commencement of practices by the teams that are taking part in the SL Baseball Classics 2013.
During the visit they exchanged ideas with the Sri Lanka Army officials who are putting an untiring effort to complete the ground well in advance to the Baseball Classics.
Sri Lanka Baseball Association, who is responsible in convincing all the stake holders to revise the original plans in order to make the ground as per international field dimensions got Major League Baseball Consultants to assist with the blue prints. Further the Association guided Sri Lanka Army in completing the Infield to a satisfactory level. At present the dugouts are being constructed and a Batters eye also will be added before the Classics Tournament.
His excellency the president Mahinda Rajapaksa has commented the work carried out after his visit to the Ground recently. First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy and Representatives from JICA also had meetings with the Association officials and noted the work in progress.
The Association is proud to have all the Sri Lankan players playing in the completed Baseball Ground during the much awaited Baseball Classics 2013.
