Team Pakistan clinched baseball’s final playoff berth and gave themselves a chance to still win the West Asia Baseball Cup 2019 with a 13-2 win over India.
Pakistan got things started in the first inning when Zakir tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. They tallied 6 runs by the end of the 3rd inning with powerful plays by Asad Ali, M. Abdullah,
Pakistan tallied six runs in the third inning with Asad Ali, M Abdullah, A. Jamshaid and Zakir powering the big innings with RBIs.
Muhammad Aslam led things off on the hill for Pakistan, surrendering two runs on seven hits over six and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.
Akshay Avhad was on the pitcher’s mound for India. He surrendered eight runs on six hits over five innings, striking out two. Pawan Mane threw one inning in relief.
Pakistan had ten hits in the game. Hussain, Zakir, and Jamshaid all had multiple hits for Pakistan. Jamshaid, Zakir and Hussain all had two hits to lead Pakistan. Pakistan stole seven bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Zawar led the way with two.
Bharath Kumar led India with three hits in three at bat.
Pakistan will now take on Sri Lanka, the defending champions of the West Asia Baseball Cup in the Finals held on the 20th July 2019 at the Sri Lanka – Japan Friendship Baseball Stadium, Diyagama.
