Sri Lanka Baseball Team wins big at 5th SLT SILK Sports Awards 2019

The Sri Lanka Baseball team won the Best Team award at the 5^th SLT SILK Sports Awards which was held at BMICH, Colombo.

Baseball in Sri Lanka has been the fastest growing sport in the Country. This year they were crowned Champions of West Asia. Sri Lanka was privileged to play in the Asian Championships where only the top 8 teams are selected. They competed against the heavyweights of World Baseball such as Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. 

Their grate performance was recognized at the 5^TH SLT SILK SPORTS AWARDS ceremony winning the Best Team Award. Since the West Asia Championships, Baseball has been introduced to most of the rural schools’ including in the Jaffna Peninsula. With a bit, more support and funding Baseball is one of the sports that can reach the pinnacle.

Sujeewa Wijayanayake was awarded the Best Umpire of the SILK Jury Award winner.
